Data & Analytics Engineer

The Data & Analytics Engineer will primarily focus on enhancing our data analytics capabilities while also dedicating efforts to maintain and govern our finished goods material master data. In this multifaceted role, you will manage the collection, cleansing, and transformation of diverse datasets, ensuring their quality and readiness for strategic analysis via visualization tools such as DOMO and Sigma. You will also be responsible for crafting and optimizing SQL queries, monitoring data pipelines, and meticulously documenting data processes. You will also be collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold the integrity and governance of finished goods material master data.
What you will do:
- Data Collection and Ingestion: Assist in building processes to collect data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, or external services.
- Data Cleaning and Transformation: Help clean and preprocess data to ensure its quality and readiness for analysis. This might involve writing scripts to automate the cleaning process and transform the data into a usable format.
- Writing and Optimizing SQL Queries: Develop SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data.
- Basic Pipeline Maintenance: Monitor existing data pipelines for errors or failures and help troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise.
- Documentation: Document data processes, ETL jobs, and database schemas to ensure that knowledge is shared and systems are understandable to other team members.
- Learning and Implementing Best Practices: Learn from other data engineers about the best ways of working in data modeling, data storage, and pipeline design.
- Collaborative Projects: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other associates to understand their data needs and contribute to the development of data products.
- Tool and Technology Exposure: Gain exposure to various tools and technologies used in the field of cloud services and data orchestration tools.
- Master Data Maintenance: Manages the processes to create, maintain, and deactivate material master data per Governance rules.
- Master Data Training: Collaborates with and trains cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity within SAP, making sure teams understand the impacts of master data changes.
- MDG Change Requests: Processes and implement Change Requests in MDG in an accurate and timely manner based on existing Data Governance Rules.
- UPC Code Management: Create and issue material codes and assign corresponding UPC codes based on the Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) allocation rules set by the global system of supply chain standards (GS1)
- Master Data Auditing: Performs regular data audits using Sigma reporting to uphold master data quality.
- Master Data Cleaning Enhancements: Automates master data distribution and actively engages in system enhancements and self-healing data practices.
- Master Data Governance Projects: Implement projects aimed at empowering teams to self-manage their material master data maintenance and deactivation, while upholding governance standards to ensure data integrity and quality.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Data Engineering or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in a data-related role, or relevant internships or academic projects that demonstrate experience with data management and analysis.
- Experience with SQL and data management systems.
- Basic understanding of data cleaning, transformation, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Experience with or exposure to SAP data governance and data quality management is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $79,200.00 - $116,550.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:
- Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
- Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
- Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
- Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
- Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
- Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
