The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for up to two full-time tenure stream faculty positions in the areas of robotics and/or mechatronics. The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.
Candidates must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics or a related discipline by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidates will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.
Applicants must provide evidence of excellence in research, which can be demonstrated by a record of published papers in top-ranked and field relevant journals, or a research pipeline that is at high international levels, the submitted research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. Further evidence of research excellence can be demonstrated by participation in top conferences and presenting research at other highly ranked schools.
Excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by strong endorsements from referees and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, including a strong statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials, and excellent teaching evaluations.
