About the role

A model that's fair at deployment can become unfair within months as the population it serves shifts. Our monitoring platform continuously evaluates deployed ML models for fairness drift — checking whether outcomes remain equitable across protected groups over time, and alerting model owners when disparities emerge before they become regulatory violations. We monitor 600+ models across 45 enterprise clients in financial services, healthcare, and hiring. The challenge isn't computing fairness metrics — it's computing them efficiently on streaming prediction data, handling the statistical nuances of small-sample groups, and presenting results in a way that compliance officers can interpret without a statistics PhD. The fairness platform team is five engineers. You'll focus on the computation engine: building the streaming fairness metric calculations, implementing the statistical tests that distinguish real drift from sampling noise, and designing the alerting logic that minimizes both false alarms and missed violations.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build streaming fairness metric computations on production prediction data
  • Implement statistical tests for detecting meaningful fairness drift
  • Design alerting logic that balances sensitivity with false alarm reduction
  • Handle small-sample statistical challenges for protected subgroups
  • Create compliance-friendly reports and dashboards for fairness monitoring
  • Support client onboarding with fairness metric configuration

Requirements

  • 3+ years in ML engineering with fairness, statistics, or monitoring experience
  • Strong understanding of fairness metrics and their statistical properties
  • Experience with streaming data processing and real-time computation
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for metric engineering
  • Ability to communicate statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Benefits

  • Fully remote across UK/EU time zones
  • 28 days PTO plus bank holidays
  • Private health insurance
  • £3,000 annual conference and learning budget
  • Mission-driven work in responsible AI
