AI Model Explainability Communication Developer

About the role

We believe AI accountability starts at explanation — not at policy. Most organizations deploying AI models can generate SHAP values or attention maps. Almost none can explain them to the people who need to understand the decision: a loan applicant, a hiring manager, a regulatory auditor. This role bridges that gap. You'll build systems that take technical model outputs (feature attribution, counterfactual explanations, confidence intervals) and translate them into natural language explanations calibrated to different audiences. A regulatory explanation looks different from a consumer-facing one. Both need to be accurate. You'll work with our fairness research team and partner closely with clients to validate that explanations are both legally sufficient and comprehensible. This is an early-career role — you'll be supported by senior researchers but will own the explanation generation pipeline end-to-end within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Build LLM-powered explanation generation pipelines from SHAP and LIME outputs
  • Implement audience-aware explanation templates (consumer, regulator, internal auditor)
  • Design quality evaluation frameworks to test explanation accuracy and comprehension
  • Partner with clients to validate explanation language in live regulatory reviews
  • Maintain a library of explanation templates reviewed by legal and compliance advisors

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of Python development with some ML exposure
  • Interest in explainable AI and AI ethics
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs and prompt design
  • Strong written communication skills — explanation quality depends on your writing judgment
