AI Noise Cancellation Model Developer

About the role

The models you build will be used by 80,000 users every day in voice calls, podcast recordings, and remote work environments. Ulara AI's noise cancellation stack is a core differentiator — we need it to outperform anything available in the market, not just be good enough. In this role, you'll own the development of deep learning models for real-time audio noise suppression. You'll train and evaluate speech enhancement models using large-scale audio datasets, develop real-time inference optimization techniques, and collaborate with the audio DSP team to integrate your models into our SDK. You'll also build the evaluation framework that measures suppression quality, speech distortion, and latency — because getting all three right simultaneously is the hard part. Ulara is distributed across Singapore, Bangalore, and Berlin. The ML team works async with weekly sync calls. A good fit for someone who has done signal processing or audio ML work and wants to go deeper into production-quality speech enhancement.

Responsibilities

  • Train and evaluate deep learning models for real-time speech denoising and noise suppression
  • Develop real-time inference optimization techniques (quantization, model distillation)
  • Build evaluation frameworks covering suppression quality, speech distortion, and latency
  • Collaborate with DSP engineers to integrate models into the Ulara SDK
  • Maintain dataset curation and augmentation pipelines for audio training data

Requirements

  • 3+ years ML engineering experience with audio or signal processing focus
  • Strong Python skills with PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Experience with speech enhancement or noise suppression model development
  • Familiarity with audio evaluation metrics (PESQ, STOI, SI-SNR)
  • Real-time inference optimization experience is a strong plus
