AI Privacy-Aware Personalization Developer

About the role

Personalization and privacy are usually presented as opposites — more data means better recommendations but worse privacy. We reject that trade-off. Our privacy-aware personalization framework delivers relevant content recommendations while provably limiting what can be inferred about individual users from the recommendation output. The technical approach combines differential privacy for model training, on-device inference for sensitive preference signals, and k-anonymity for recommendation explanations. You'll build the framework that ties these techniques together into a practical system that product teams can use without a PhD in privacy — configure a privacy budget, get personalized recommendations, and receive a certificate proving what level of individual inference the system prevents. The responsible AI team is five engineers. You'll implement the privacy mechanisms and integration layer while the research team advances the theoretical framework. Your code ships in our SDK used by 40 enterprise clients.

Responsibilities

  • Implement differential privacy mechanisms for recommendation model training
  • Build on-device inference for privacy-sensitive preference signals
  • Design k-anonymity guarantees for recommendation explanations
  • Create the privacy budget configuration interface for product teams
  • Measure the privacy-utility trade-off across different configuration levels
  • Maintain the privacy SDK shipped to 40 enterprise clients

Requirements

  • 3+ years in ML engineering with privacy or security focus
  • Understanding of differential privacy, k-anonymity, or federated learning
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills for production systems
  • Experience building SDKs or developer-facing tools
  • Ability to bridge theory and practical implementation
