Junior Reinforcement Learning Developer

About the role

We build AI agents for video game testing. Instead of humans playing through 400 hours of a game looking for bugs, our RL agents explore game environments autonomously — finding collision glitches, pathfinding failures, and balance issues that manual QA would miss. As a junior RL developer, you'll help train and evaluate game-testing agents. Your first projects will focus on reward function design for exploration coverage, building evaluation metrics that capture bug-finding efficiency, and maintaining our training infrastructure. Our senior RL engineer will mentor you through weekly sessions. You'll learn RL by applying it to genuinely fun problems — there's something satisfying about watching an AI agent discover a bug that human testers missed after 200 hours of gameplay.

Responsibilities

  • Design reward functions that maximize game exploration coverage
  • Train and evaluate RL agents for automated game testing scenarios
  • Build evaluation metrics for agent bug-finding efficiency
  • Maintain training infrastructure and experiment tracking
  • Document training procedures and agent behavior analysis

Requirements

  • Python proficiency with PyTorch experience
  • Academic coursework or projects in reinforcement learning
  • Understanding of RL fundamentals (MDPs, policy gradients, value functions)
  • Interest in game development or interactive systems
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills
