Senior AI Contract Obligation Tracking Engineer

About the role

Signed contracts don't end when the ink dries. Renewal windows, price escalators, audit rights and notice periods sit buried in thousands of PDFs, and our customers (in-house legal teams at mid-market companies) keep missing them. Selvix Works already extracts clauses well; what we don't have is a system that turns those clauses into a live calendar of obligations that legal and finance actually trust. You will design that system: a pipeline that reads executed agreements, links amendments back to their parent contract, resolves conflicting dates, and flags anything ambiguous for a human reviewer. Expect to make the calls on retrieval design, model choice and evaluation, and to defend them to a general counsel who has been burned by software before.

Responsibilities

  • Own the obligation extraction pipeline from OCR output to structured, dated commitments
  • Link amendments, SOWs and side letters to the right master agreement with measurable accuracy
  • Build an evaluation set with our two staff lawyers and report precision per obligation type
  • Decide when the model should defer to human review and design that review queue

Requirements

  • Shipped NLP systems on long, messy documents (legal, financial or medical preferred)
  • Deep experience with retrieval pipelines and transformer fine-tuning in PyTorch
  • Able to explain model uncertainty to non-technical, risk-averse users
  • Prior exposure to contract lifecycle tools is a plus, not a requirement
