About the role

Real estate listings with 3D walkthroughs sell 31% faster. But traditional 3D scanning requires expensive equipment and trained operators. Our platform generates 3D models from smartphone video — a real estate agent walks through a property recording on their phone, uploads the video, and gets a photorealistic 3D walkthrough within an hour. You'll improve the reconstruction pipeline: structure-from-motion for camera pose estimation, neural radiance field rendering for photorealistic view synthesis, and the mesh extraction system that creates clean 3D models from noisy phone footage. The input quality varies wildly — shaky video, poor lighting, reflective surfaces — and the output needs to look professional. We process 500 properties per day. Every pipeline improvement needs to scale horizontally and handle the variety of real-world conditions that smartphone video introduces. This is applied research with immediate production impact.

Responsibilities

  • Improve 3D reconstruction quality from smartphone video input
  • Optimize structure-from-motion for robust camera pose estimation
  • Develop neural rendering techniques for photorealistic view synthesis
  • Handle edge cases from real-world conditions — shaky video, poor lighting, reflections
  • Scale the reconstruction pipeline for 500+ daily property processing

Requirements

  • 3+ years in computer vision or 3D reconstruction
  • Strong PyTorch skills for neural rendering models
  • Experience with structure-from-motion or multi-view geometry
  • Understanding of NeRF or similar novel view synthesis methods
  • Python proficiency with performance optimization experience
