About the role

The EU AI Act requires Algorithmic Impact Assessments for high-risk AI systems. Canada's AIDA has similar requirements. These assessments evaluate an AI system's purpose, data practices, performance characteristics, and potential harms — producing a structured document that regulators can review. Most companies produce these manually, taking 4-6 weeks per system. We automate 70% of the process. Our tool takes a system description and technical documentation as input, automatically populates assessment sections that can be derived from technical facts (data sources, model type, performance metrics), identifies sections requiring human judgment (proportionality analysis, fundamental rights impact), and generates draft language for review. You'll build the pipeline that connects system documentation to assessment templates. The responsible AI tools team is four engineers. You'll start with the documentation parsing module — extracting structured information from model cards, data sheets, and technical specs that feeds into the assessment template. Your senior teammate handles the regulatory template management; you handle the information extraction that populates them.

Responsibilities

  • Build documentation parsing extracting structured info from model cards and data sheets
  • Map extracted information to assessment template fields
  • Identify sections requiring human judgment versus auto-population
  • Generate draft assessment language for human review
  • Test population accuracy against manually completed assessments
  • Support new assessment frameworks as regulations evolve

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic understanding of NLP or document processing
  • Interest in AI regulation and responsible AI practices
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and LLM frameworks
  • Clear technical writing for generated assessment language
