About the role

Developers hate writing docs. They hate outdated docs even more. Our platform generates API documentation automatically from source code, OpenAPI specs, and usage patterns — then keeps it updated as the codebase evolves. We serve 200 developer tools companies whose documentation is their primary sales channel. As a junior developer, you'll build the generation pipelines that turn raw API specifications into human-readable documentation with examples, explanations, and troubleshooting guides. The LLM does the writing; your job is building the context assembly that gives it the right information, the quality checks that catch errors, and the formatting pipeline that produces docs matching each client's style guide. The docs engineering team is three people. You'll start by improving the example generation module — creating realistic code samples for API endpoints based on their schemas and common usage patterns. It's a great entry point because you'll learn the full pipeline while working on a self-contained component.

Responsibilities

  • Build generation pipelines for API documentation from code and specs
  • Create realistic code examples based on API schemas and usage patterns
  • Implement quality checks for generated documentation accuracy
  • Apply client style guides to documentation formatting
  • Test generation against diverse API architectures and languages
  • Maintain and improve prompt templates for documentation generation

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Familiarity with API design concepts and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
  • Basic understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering
  • Experience reading and writing technical documentation
  • Interest in developer tools and developer experience
