AI API Error Message Clarity Engineer

About the role

LangChain, OpenAI's API, and FastAPI power the tooling our developer relations team ships every week. Right now our API returns error messages written for our own engineers, not the third-party developers who hit them. You'll build a system that rewrites raw error responses into plain-language explanations with suggested fixes, tested against real support ticket patterns. We publish our findings on developer experience internally so the whole team learns from what works.

Responsibilities

  • Build a system that rewrites API errors into plain language
  • Test error message clarity against real support tickets
  • Collaborate with devrel on suggested-fix accuracy

Requirements

  • 3+ years with python and api development using fastapi
  • Experience with openai api or similar llm integration
  • Strong technical writing skills
