AI Background Removal Quality Engineer

About the role

Our mission is to make studio-quality product photography accessible to sellers who can't afford a photo studio, and background removal is the feature they judge us on first. You'll own the quality bar for our background removal models across hair, glass, fabric, and other edge cases that break naive segmentation, working from a large library of seller-submitted product shots. This role reports to our Creative AI lead and works closely with the image generation pipeline team.

Responsibilities

  • Own quality benchmarking for background removal across difficult edge cases
  • Build targeted training data and augmentation strategies for weak spots
  • Partner with the generation pipeline team on integration
  • Reduce seller-reported quality complaints quarter over quarter

Requirements

  • 5+ years in computer vision, ideally image segmentation
  • Strong PyTorch and production deployment experience
  • Portfolio of shipped vision quality improvements
  • Attention to visual quality detail, not just benchmark metrics
