About the role

Our clients deploy ML models in healthcare, lending, and hiring — three domains where biased predictions cause real harm. They hire us to find the bias before regulators do. Each audit engagement is 3-4 weeks: profile the model, test across protected attributes, quantify disparate impact, and deliver a report with specific remediation recommendations. This is a 9-month contract for a senior auditor who can run these engagements independently. You'll need deep statistical expertise — not just calculating demographic parity, but understanding when group fairness metrics conflict, when calibration matters more than equalized odds, and how to communicate these tradeoffs to non-technical executives. We need someone who's done fairness evaluations in practice, not just in theory. If your portfolio includes bias audits that resulted in real model changes, we want to talk.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent bias audits on ML models in healthcare, lending, and hiring
  • Profile model behavior across protected demographic attributes
  • Quantify disparate impact using appropriate fairness metrics per domain
  • Deliver audit reports with specific, actionable remediation recommendations
  • Present findings to client executive teams and compliance officers

Requirements

  • 5+ years in ML fairness, data science, or statistical auditing
  • Deep expertise in fairness metrics and their domain-specific tradeoffs
  • Strong Python and statistical analysis skills
  • Experience with regulated industries (healthcare, finance, HR tech)
  • Proven track record of bias audits that led to real model improvements
