AI Build Failure Root Cause Classifier

Joseph Kim

Full-time · Job · New_York

About the role

Engineers on our platform waste an average of twenty minutes digging through logs every time a CI build fails, most of the time for one of maybe a dozen recurring root causes. We publish internally and expect engineers here to read papers on log-based failure classification and implement what actually works, not just what sounds good in a blog post. In this role you'll build the classifier that reads failing build logs and surfaces the likely root cause directly in the pull request, cutting that twenty-minute log dive down to a glance.

Responsibilities

  • Build a classifier that predicts root causes from CI build logs
  • Maintain a growing library of labeled failure examples
  • Investigate and document new recurring failure patterns
  • Integrate classifier output directly into pull request comments

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with log analysis or text classification
  • Comfortable reading research on failure classification and applying it
  • Experience with CI/CD systems a plus

Benefits

  • Fully remote with flexible hours
  • Internal research time allocated each month
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
