AI Clinical Supply Utilization Forecasting Engineer

About the role

We serve over 40 hospital systems whose clinical data teams keep asking us for one thing our current product doesn't cover well: predicting which medical supplies will run short before it becomes a procurement emergency. You will build forecasting models over historical usage, patient census trends, and seasonal illness patterns to predict supply utilization at the unit level, feeding directly into procurement planning dashboards. This is an on-site contract based at one partner hospital system's data office, working directly with their supply chain analysts to validate forecasts against real ordering decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build forecasting models predicting unit-level clinical supply utilization
  • Incorporate seasonal illness patterns and patient census trends into forecasts
  • Validate forecast accuracy directly against hospital procurement outcomes
  • Work on-site with hospital supply chain analysts to refine model assumptions
  • Document forecasting limitations clearly for procurement decision-makers

Requirements

  • 3+ years in applied forecasting or healthcare operations analytics
  • Strong Python, SQL, and statistics background
  • Comfortable working on-site within a hospital data environment
  • Experience translating forecasts into operational recommendations
