About the role

Code reviews catch bugs, enforce style, and spread knowledge — but they're also a bottleneck that delays shipping. The average PR waits 18 hours for its first review at most engineering teams. Our automated review system provides instant feedback on common issues: security vulnerabilities, performance anti-patterns, test coverage gaps, and API misuse — freeing human reviewers to focus on architecture and design decisions. You'll build the code analysis pipeline: static analysis integration, LLM-powered semantic analysis that understands what the code does rather than just what it looks like, and context-aware feedback that considers the PR's purpose and the surrounding codebase. The feedback must be specific, actionable, and calibrated to avoid overwhelming reviewers with low-value comments. The developer tools team is five engineers. You'll own the review analysis pipeline, working with engineering leads who define what issues matter most and developer experience researchers who measure how review feedback affects code quality and developer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Build code analysis pipeline combining static analysis with LLM-powered semantic review
  • Design context-aware feedback using PR purpose and surrounding codebase
  • Implement security vulnerability and performance anti-pattern detection
  • Calibrate comment volume to avoid reviewer fatigue
  • Integrate with GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket review workflows
  • Measure feedback quality through bug escape rate and developer satisfaction

Requirements

  • 3+ years in developer tools or software quality engineering
  • Experience with static analysis tools and code understanding systems
  • Strong Python skills with LLM orchestration frameworks
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices across languages
  • Ability to build tools that work across diverse codebases and styles
