About the role

We publish internally and encourage conference submissions, but our researchers keep missing deadlines because tracking dozens of venues manually doesn't scale. This part-time role builds a lightweight system that scrapes conference deadline pages, normalizes submission windows, and pushes reminders into our research team's calendar. It's a well-scoped project suited to someone who wants meaningful part-time work without a full-time commitment, reporting to our research operations lead.

Responsibilities

  • Build scrapers and parsers for academic conference deadline pages
  • Normalize submission windows into a structured database
  • Schedule automated reminders for researchers ahead of deadlines
  • Maintain the pipeline as conference websites change format

Requirements

  • Comfortable writing Python scrapers and ETL pipelines
  • Basic experience with Airflow or similar scheduling tools
  • Interest in academic research workflows
  • Able to commit roughly 20 hours per week
