AI Consent Management Platform Developer

About the role

GDPR consent management sounds like a checkbox problem until you're running a data platform serving 14 EU markets with 6 different lawful bases for processing, consent records that need to be queryable in under 100ms during a regulator audit, and preference changes propagating in real time across 40 downstream systems that each have their own data model. This is a 10-month contract to build out our consent management infrastructure from a prototype to a production system. The prototype handles simple opt-in/opt-out. The production system needs to handle granular purpose-based consent, withdrawal propagation across partner systems, retroactive deletion with audit trail preservation, and the edge cases that come up when consent was collected under one framework and needs to be re-evaluated under another. You'll work with our data privacy counsel who'll explain the regulatory requirements, and our platform team who'll tell you what the systems actually do. The technical spec is 80% defined — you need engineering depth and judgment to execute it correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Build production consent management system handling granular purpose-based consent
  • Implement real-time consent withdrawal propagation across 40 downstream partner systems
  • Design retroactive deletion workflows preserving audit trail integrity
  • Create consent record storage with sub-100ms query performance for audits
  • Build APIs for consent collection, querying, and preference management
  • Document compliance architecture for regulatory review

Requirements

  • 5+ years in backend engineering with data privacy or compliance system experience
  • Deep understanding of GDPR consent requirements and lawful bases for processing
  • Strong Python and API design skills
  • Experience with event-driven architectures for real-time propagation
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into precise technical specifications
