AI Contract Intelligence Developer

About the role

We've already built the document classification layer — now we need someone to make it smart. Our legal tech platform processes 4 million documents a month, and clients want more than sorting. They want the AI to understand what's in each document: key dates, obligation clauses, termination conditions, and liability caps. You'll build the intelligence layer on top of our existing NLP pipeline: structured extraction of contract metadata, cross-document comparison for clause inconsistencies, and automated risk scoring based on deviation from standard terms. The stack is LangChain for orchestration, RAG for knowledge retrieval, and FastAPI for the service layer. This is the second ML hire on our intelligence team. You'll work closely with legal domain experts who define what 'important' means in each contract type, and with the platform team who integrates your outputs into the client dashboard.

Responsibilities

  • Build structured extraction pipelines for contract metadata and key clauses
  • Design cross-document comparison systems for clause inconsistency detection
  • Implement automated risk scoring based on standard term deviation
  • Collaborate with legal experts on defining extraction targets per contract type
  • Own evaluation metrics for extraction accuracy and risk scoring quality

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP or information extraction
  • Hands-on LangChain and RAG experience
  • Experience with structured data extraction from unstructured text
  • Strong Python skills with FastAPI
  • Interest in legal technology or document intelligence
