AI Conversational Tone Consistency Engineer

About the role

You'll be the sixth engineer on our conversational AI team, working directly with our dialogue evaluation specialist. We already measure conversation quality well — intent accuracy, resolution rate, and escalation patterns are all tracked closely. What's missing is tone: as the bot's scripted responses have grown into more dynamic, generated replies, brand voice consistency has started slipping in ways our quality scoring doesn't catch, since a reply can be accurate and still sound off-brand. We don't care where you work from. We care about whether the tone consistency checks you build actually catch drift before a customer notices it sounds like a different company answered their message.

Responsibilities

  • Build tone and brand voice consistency checks for generated chatbot replies
  • Define measurable tone drift signals the existing quality scoring doesn't catch
  • Partner with the dialogue evaluation specialist on combined quality and tone metrics
  • Flag and categorize tone drift examples for the content team to review
  • Track tone consistency scores across bot updates and model changes

Requirements

  • Comfortable with Python and Hugging Face models for text style analysis
  • Basic experience with LangChain for conversational pipelines
  • SQL fluency for analyzing conversation and quality score data
  • Entry-level friendly, mentorship available from senior conversational AI engineers
