About the role

A brand crisis on social media can go from zero to catastrophic in 90 minutes. A product recall gets posted, an executive makes a controversial statement, a customer shares a horrifying experience — and by the time the PR team opens their email, 50,000 people have already formed an opinion. Our crisis detection system monitors social media in real time and alerts brand teams within 5 minutes of an emerging crisis. The detection challenge is separating signal from noise. Brands get mentioned thousands of times per day — complaints, praise, random mentions, spam. A crisis isn't a single angry tweet; it's an abnormal spike in negative sentiment that accelerates faster than organic conversation. You'll build the anomaly detection that identifies these acceleration patterns and the classification models that distinguish genuine crises from normal fluctuations. The social intelligence team is four engineers. You'll start with the sentiment classification component, learning how social media text differs from the clean datasets NLP models are typically trained on — abbreviations, sarcasm, emojis, code-switching, and deliberate misspellings all need handling.

Fully remote.
