AI Cross-Lingual Sentiment Analysis Researcher

About the role

We publish internally and encourage conference submissions — the right candidate will read recent papers, implement findings, and contribute to our research output. Mevra Labs is building the next-generation conversational intelligence platform, and cross-lingual sentiment analysis is a foundational capability we need to get right across our 14 supported languages. In this role, you'll research and implement cross-lingual transfer learning approaches for sentiment, aspect-level opinion mining, and emotional tone classification. You'll evaluate multilingual transformer models across our language coverage, build fine-tuning workflows for low-resource language pairs, and contribute to the shared NLP model library used across Mevra's product suite. We're a research-forward team: two of our senior NLP researchers have backgrounds at large AI labs. You'll have dedicated research time (20% of your week), access to a GPU budget for experiments, and a publishing calendar targeting ACL and EMNLP each year.

Responsibilities

  • Research and implement cross-lingual transfer learning approaches for sentiment and opinion mining
  • Evaluate and fine-tune multilingual transformer models across 14 language pairs
  • Build low-resource fine-tuning workflows for underrepresented languages
  • Contribute to internal NLP model library used across the product suite
  • Author and submit research papers to NLP conferences

Requirements

  • PhD or 5+ years research experience in NLP or computational linguistics
  • Deep expertise with multilingual transformer models (mBERT, XLM-R)
  • Strong PyTorch and Hugging Face skills
  • Publication record in NLP or a related field preferred
  • Experience with cross-lingual evaluation benchmarks (XNLI, MultiSentiment)
