About the role

Our threat detection platform analyzes 500 million network events per day for mid-size enterprises. Traditional SIEM rules catch the obvious stuff. Our ML models catch the rest — lateral movement patterns, anomalous authentication sequences, and data exfiltration attempts that look normal individually but form a pattern over time. You'll build and refine the ML models behind our detection engine. That means feature engineering from raw network logs, training anomaly detection and classification models, tuning alert thresholds to balance detection rate against analyst fatigue, and continuously adapting to new attack patterns. Cybersecurity ML has a unique challenge: the adversary is actively trying to evade your models. If you find that cat-and-mouse dynamic intellectually stimulating, and you have the ML skills to back it up, this is a role where you'll never be bored.

Responsibilities

  • Build anomaly detection models for network threat identification
  • Engineer features from high-volume network event streams
  • Tune detection thresholds balancing true positive rate against analyst fatigue
  • Analyze new attack patterns and adapt models accordingly
  • Collaborate with security analysts on model output interpretation

Requirements

  • 3+ years in ML or data science, preferably in security or networking
  • Strong Python skills with scikit-learn and PyTorch
  • Experience with anomaly detection on high-volume streaming data
  • Familiarity with network security concepts and threat models
  • SQL proficiency for log analysis
