About the role

We just rolled out our data mesh platform to two new business units, and data access requests have tripled overnight with no automated way to route or approve them. Engineers today wait days for a data steward to manually approve access to a dataset they need for a single analysis. You'll join a cross-functional squad with defined sprints, clear ownership, and weekly syncs with data governance leadership, building the automation that routes access requests to the right steward and auto-approves low-risk requests against a defined policy — the two new business units are counting on this to unblock their teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated routing for data access requests to the right steward
  • Design auto-approval logic for low-risk access requests
  • Partner with data governance to define approval policies
  • Track request turnaround time improvements after rollout

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data engineering with strong SQL and Airflow skills
  • Experience with data governance or access control systems
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
