About the role

As a fully async team spread across nine time zones, we believe great engineers don't need to be in the same room to build something reliable together. Our data pipeline team is proof of that, and we're looking to add one more person to it. You'll build and maintain the catalog layer that sits on top of our Spark and Hadoop pipelines, making it possible for analysts to find and trust the datasets they need without pinging an engineer every time. This means real ETL work, not just a UI on top of existing tables. We write async updates instead of holding meetings, and decisions get documented in writing so anyone in any time zone can follow along.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the data catalog layer on top of Spark and Hadoop
  • Write and monitor ETL jobs that keep catalog metadata accurate
  • Document data lineage in a way analysts can self-serve
  • Contribute to async written updates instead of live meetings

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with Spark or Hadoop-based data pipelines
  • Strong SQL and ETL fundamentals
  • Comfortable working async across time zones
  • Experience with data cataloging or metadata management is a plus
