AI Data Observability Platform Developer

About the role

Relvix Data's platform helps data teams catch problems in their pipelines before downstream consumers ever notice. We've built strong data lineage and governance tooling — now we're adding a real-time observability layer. That layer needs a developer to build it. In this role, you'll build the freshness monitors, null rate trackers, schema anomaly detectors, and volume watchers that form the backbone of a data observability product. You'll also design the alerting framework that surfaces the right signal to the right engineer without creating alert fatigue. You'll work closely with the product team to define what 'observable' means for different data asset types. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a data scientist role. You should be comfortable building reliable, tested Python services, working with Airflow-based orchestration, and shipping features on a two-week release cycle. Clear growth path into a lead role within 18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Build freshness, volume, null rate, and schema anomaly monitors for data pipeline assets
  • Design the alerting and routing framework for data quality incidents
  • Own the observability agent SDK used by client data teams for instrumentation
  • Collaborate with product to define observability coverage for new asset types
  • Contribute to on-call rotation and incident response for the platform

Requirements

  • 3+ years data engineering or ML infrastructure experience
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Experience with Apache Airflow and distributed data processing
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks and observability concepts
  • Reliable software engineering practices (testing, code review, documentation)
