About the role

We already have a working conversational search stack processing millions of queries a day. What we don't have is a dedicated pipeline engineer to keep the underlying Spark and Databricks jobs healthy as that volume keeps climbing. We publish internally on what we learn from scaling this system, and you'll be expected to both maintain and improve it rather than just keep the lights on. You'll own the Airflow-orchestrated pipelines feeding our search and ranking models, with real input into how the data architecture evolves as we grow.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and scale Spark and Databricks pipelines feeding search models
  • Own Airflow orchestration for recurring data jobs
  • Write and optimize SQL queries against large-scale datasets
  • Investigate and resolve pipeline performance bottlenecks
  • Document architecture decisions for the wider engineering team

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with Spark or Databricks in production
  • Solid Python and SQL skills
  • Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
  • Comfortable working with large-scale, high-volume data
  • Clear technical documentation habits
