About the role

Data teams build datasets, pipelines, and dashboards — but they rarely measure whether anyone actually uses them. A pipeline that runs daily and serves zero consumers is waste. A dataset that 40 teams depend on is critical infrastructure that needs reliability investment. Data product usage analytics tells you which assets are actually valuable so you can invest accordingly. We build the data catalog and observability platform used by 180 enterprise data teams. Our usage analytics layer tracks query patterns, dashboard views, and API calls against data assets, then surfaces insights that help data teams prioritize their roadmap and deprecate the long tail of assets that nobody uses. As a junior analyst-engineer, you will build the usage tracking features and the dashboards that data stewards and data platform teams use to understand consumption patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Build usage tracking pipelines for query logs, dashboard views, and API consumption
  • Create data asset popularity and dependency dashboards for data steward teams
  • Implement stale asset detection identifying datasets with zero recent consumers
  • Develop data product health scores combining freshness, quality, and usage metrics
  • Maintain pipeline processing usage events from data warehouse and BI tool logs
  • Write analytical queries supporting data platform quarterly reviews

Requirements

  • 1+ year of data analysis experience with SQL and Python
  • Familiarity with BI tools and data warehouse concepts
  • Interest in data infrastructure, data governance, or data platform domains
  • Clear writing skills for analytical summaries and documentation
  • Methodical approach to data pipeline maintenance and monitoring
