AI Design Prototyping Tool Developer

About the role

Designers sketch wireframes. Developers build prototypes. The handoff between them wastes days of back-and-forth on every feature. Our tool eliminates that gap: designers describe what they want in natural language and annotated sketches, and our AI generates interactive prototypes that developers can use as implementation references. You'll work on the backend that powers this — the API layer that takes design descriptions, processes them through our generation pipeline, and serves interactive prototypes to the frontend. It's mostly Python, FastAPI, and LLM orchestration, with some clever prompt engineering to turn vague design intent into concrete UI specifications. This is a junior role with a steep learning curve. You'll pair with a senior engineer daily for your first month, ship your first feature in week three, and own a product vertical by month four. We move fast because our market window is narrow — three competitors launched similar tools in the last six months, and execution speed is our only moat.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain API endpoints for the design-to-prototype pipeline
  • Implement LLM orchestration for converting design descriptions to UI specs
  • Write integration tests for the prototype generation workflow
  • Fix bugs reported by design teams during beta testing
  • Help improve prompt templates based on output quality analysis
  • Participate in daily pair programming sessions during onboarding

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python backend development experience
  • Familiarity with FastAPI or similar web frameworks
  • Basic understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering concepts
  • Comfort with fast-paced development and frequent releases
  • Interest in design tools and developer experience
