About the role

Insurance claims arrive as PDFs, scanned letters, emails, photos of damaged property, and sometimes handwritten notes. Our platform turns all of this into structured data that adjusters can act on in minutes instead of hours. The AI does the heavy lifting — OCR, classification, entity extraction, and damage assessment. You'll own the document processing pipeline: improving our OCR accuracy on degraded documents, training classification models for claim types, building extraction pipelines for key entities (policy numbers, dates, damage descriptions), and integrating everything through a LangChain orchestration layer. We process 50,000 claims documents per month across 8 insurance clients. Accuracy matters — a misclassified claim or missed policy number creates real problems for real people. Responsibilities

  • Improve OCR and text extraction accuracy on degraded insurance documents
  • Train and fine-tune classification models for claim type routing
  • Build entity extraction pipelines for policy numbers, dates, and damage details
  • Design LangChain orchestration for multi-step document processing workflows
  • Monitor extraction accuracy and maintain quality dashboards per client

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP or document processing engineering
  • Experience with OCR systems and handling noisy text data
  • Hands-on PyTorch and Hugging Face for model fine-tuning
  • Familiarity with LangChain for pipeline orchestration
  • Strong Python skills with FastAPI and Docker
