About the role

M&A due diligence requires reviewing thousands of contracts, financial statements, and regulatory filings under extreme time pressure. A typical deal room contains 10,000 documents that a legal team has 3 weeks to review. Our AI pre-screens documents, extracts key risk factors, and flags issues that need human attention — reducing review time by 65%. You'll build the extraction and risk identification pipeline: classifying documents by type, extracting material terms from contracts and financial disclosures, comparing extracted terms against deal-specific risk criteria, and generating the summary reports that deal teams review instead of reading every document. Due diligence is high-stakes NLP. A missed liability clause can cost the acquirer millions. A false alarm wastes expensive attorney time during a compressed timeline. You'll calibrate the system to be thorough without being noisy — and every extraction must trace back to its source document and page number.

Responsibilities

  • Build document classification and material term extraction for deal room review
  • Design risk identification pipelines comparing terms against deal-specific criteria
  • Generate summary reports with source-traced findings for deal team review
  • Calibrate extraction sensitivity balancing thoroughness with attorney time efficiency
  • Handle diverse document formats across contracts, financials, and regulatory filings

Requirements

  • 3+ years in NLP with document extraction or legal technology experience
  • Hands-on LangChain and RAG experience for information extraction
  • Strong Python skills with FastAPI for pipeline development
  • Understanding of legal document structures and M&A terminology
  • Experience building systems where extraction accuracy has financial consequences
