AI Earnings Call Signal Extraction Engineer

About the role

Quelion Intelligence builds research tools for hedge funds and asset managers. Every quarter, thousands of earnings calls happen in a span of a few weeks, and our clients want to know within minutes what changed: guidance language, management hesitation, analyst pushback. This role builds the NLP that extracts those signals from call transcripts and links them to market reactions. You'll work on-site in our Manhattan office with two quantitative researchers who will hold your signals to strict backtesting standards. If a feature doesn't survive out-of-sample testing, it doesn't ship.

Responsibilities

  • Build models that detect guidance changes, hedging language and tone shifts in transcripts
  • Link extracted signals to price and volume reactions for backtesting
  • Partner with quant researchers to validate signals out of sample
  • Deliver signals to clients within 10 minutes of transcript availability

Requirements

  • Several years of applied NLP experience, ideally on financial text
  • Solid statistics and understanding of look-ahead bias and overfitting
  • Strong Python and experience with transformer models
  • Willing to work on-site in New York four days per week
