About the role

Email subject lines are the most A/B tested element in marketing, and most email teams still write them by instinct. Our optimizer generates 10 subject line variants for every campaign, predicts open rates for each based on historical performance patterns, and selects the best one for each recipient segment. It's pure applied ML on a problem with clear, measurable outcomes. As a junior developer on this 4-month freelance engagement, you'll build the generation and prediction pipeline: generating subject line variants using LLMs with campaign-specific context, extracting features from subject line text (length, sentiment, urgency signals, personalization elements), and scoring each variant against a model trained on millions of historical campaign results. This is a structured engagement with a clear scope: generation module, feature extraction, scoring integration, and A/B test result ingestion that improves predictions over time. Your senior engineering contact will review your code weekly and provide technical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Build subject line generation using LLMs with campaign context

  • Test generation quality across different industries and audience segments

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
