About the role

Is "J.P. Morgan Chase & Co." the same entity as "JPMorgan" and "Chase Bank"? Obviously yes — to a human. To a database, they're three different strings. Entity resolution at scale is one of the unglamorous but essential problems in data intelligence, and we solve it across 340 million business records for our financial services and due diligence clients. The naive approach — string similarity — fails spectacularly when you encounter abbreviations, translations, subsidiaries, name changes, and deliberate obfuscation. Our system uses learned embeddings that capture semantic identity, graph-based features from ownership networks, and temporal signals from historical records. Your job is making it better: reducing both false matches ("Bank of America" vs "Bank of Africa") and missed matches ("Alphabet Inc" vs "Google LLC"). You'll own the core matching model and the pipeline that processes 2 million new records daily. The NLP team is five people; you'll be the most senior engineer working on entity resolution specifically.

Responsibilities

  • Own the entity resolution matching model and training pipeline
  • Reduce false match and missed match rates across 340M records
  • Build graph-based features from corporate ownership networks
  • Design evaluation benchmarks with ground truth from analyst review
  • Optimize the daily pipeline processing 2M new records
  • Research new approaches to entity resolution in multilingual contexts

Requirements

  • 6+ years in NLP or record linkage with large-scale entity resolution experience
  • Deep understanding of embedding-based similarity and blocking strategies
  • Experience with graph features for entity disambiguation
  • Strong Python, PyTorch, and SQL skills
  • Track record of measurable improvements on matching quality metrics
