AI Expense Approval Routing Engineer

About the role

Finance teams at our client companies lose days routing expense reports through the wrong approval chain, especially for edge cases involving multiple cost centers. In this role, you'll build the routing logic that classifies expense reports and sends them down the correct approval path automatically, cutting the manual triage finance ops currently handles by hand. Expected impact: our largest clients report finance ops spending 40% less time on manual routing within the first quarter of rollout, and this role owns making that number real for the next batch of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build classification models routing expense reports to correct approvers
  • Handle multi-cost-center and edge-case routing logic
  • Integrate routing logic with client ERP and expense systems
  • Measure and report routing accuracy improvements
  • Work with client finance ops teams on edge cases

Requirements

  • Experience with workflow automation or document classification
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Familiarity with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
  • Comfortable integrating with third-party ERP systems
