AI Feature Usage Anomaly Detection Engineer

About the role

Our product usage data is growing faster than anyone can eyeball it in a dashboard, and by the time a feature quietly breaks for a segment of users, it's already cost us renewals. We need someone who can build the statistical layer that catches those regressions before support tickets do. You'll build anomaly detection models on top of our event pipeline, flagging unusual drops or spikes in feature usage by cohort, plan tier, and platform. The output feeds directly into a Slack channel our product managers actually read, so the signal-to-noise ratio has to be excellent. You'll work closely with product analytics and the growth pod, translating statistical alerts into prioritized product decisions rather than just noise in a dashboard nobody opens.

Responsibilities

  • Design and tune anomaly detection models on top of the product usage event stream
  • Own the alerting pipeline from raw events to actionable Slack notifications
  • Partner with product to translate statistical anomalies into prioritized fixes
  • Maintain dashboards used in weekly product review
  • Continuously reduce false-positive rate through cohort-aware thresholds

Requirements

  • 3+ years in product analytics or data science with a SQL-heavy workflow
  • Solid grounding in statistics: distributions, control charts, hypothesis testing
  • Experience with Python data tooling (pandas) at production scale
  • Comfortable presenting findings to non-technical product stakeholders
