AI Field Service Dispatch Optimization Engineer

About the role

We're building the next generation of AI-powered dispatch tools for field service companies managing thousands of technicians across dozens of regions. The role: take a dispatch system that currently relies on static rules and replace it with a model that accounts for technician skill, drive time, part availability, and job urgency in real time. You'll own the optimization engine end to end, from the Airflow pipelines that keep technician state fresh to the scoring logic that ranks candidate assignments. The impact shows up immediately in the numbers our customers watch every day: fewer missed windows, shorter drive times, and technicians who trust the queue they're handed.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the real-time dispatch scoring engine
  • Build Airflow pipelines that keep technician availability and skill data current
  • Run controlled rollouts comparing new assignment logic against the existing baseline
  • Debug edge cases where the optimizer produces assignments dispatchers don't trust

Requirements

  • Strong Python and SQL for building and debugging optimization pipelines
  • Experience with Airflow or a comparable workflow orchestration tool
  • Familiarity with AWS-based data infrastructure
  • Track record shipping systems that make real-time operational decisions
