AI FOIA Request Triage Engineer

About the role

We just won a multi-county contract and are scaling fast to keep up with the volume of public records requests flooding in. We believe transparency tools should work for everyone, not just well-funded legal teams, and this role builds the triage system that routes incoming FOIA requests to the right department automatically. You'll design the classification logic, work with records officers to validate routing accuracy, and help clear a backlog that's been growing for months.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce the request backlog through better automated triage

Requirements

  • 2-4 years building classification or routing systems
  • Experience working with government or civic-tech data
  • Comfortable in a hybrid, cross-department environment
