About the role

Game designers spend months tuning character abilities, weapon damage, and economy parameters — then players find broken combinations within 48 hours of launch. Our AI testing platform discovers these imbalances before release by simulating millions of matches with RL agents that explore the strategy space far more thoroughly than human playtesters. As a junior game balance tester, you'll run the simulation campaigns: configuring RL agents for different game scenarios, analyzing match outcome distributions for balance indicators, identifying dominant strategies that indicate design problems, and generating the reports that game designers use to tune parameters before launch. No game development experience needed — we'll teach you the domain. What we need is someone comfortable with reinforcement learning concepts, curious about emergent behavior in complex systems, and able to translate simulation results into actionable design feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Configure RL agent simulations for game balance testing scenarios
  • Analyze match outcome distributions identifying statistical imbalances
  • Detect dominant strategies indicating design problems
  • Generate balance reports with actionable parameter tuning recommendations
  • Assist senior engineers with RL agent training and evaluation

Requirements

  • Python proficiency with reinforcement learning fundamentals
  • Basic PyTorch skills for model configuration and evaluation
  • Statistical reasoning for interpreting simulation outcome distributions
  • Interest in game design and emergent strategic behavior
  • Clear communication for translating technical findings into design feedback
