AI GDPR Right-to-Erasure Compliance Automation Developer

Harper Adeyemi

Full-time · Job · Amsterdam

About the role

Under GDPR Article 17, individuals have the right to request erasure of their personal data. The obligation sounds simple. The execution is complex: personal data is spread across transactional databases, data warehouses, ML training datasets, backup systems, event logs, and third-party processors — and erasing it from all of them within the 30-day compliance window while maintaining referential integrity, audit trails, and downstream ML model validity is an operational challenge that manual processes handle poorly at scale. We serve 40 European enterprise clients with data governance and compliance automation. GDPR right-to-erasure automation is the workflow we're building to orchestrate systematic erasure across the full data estate. Manual erasure processes take 4-8 hours per request and create compliance gaps when data is missed in obscure downstream systems. You'll build the erasure orchestration system: data estate discovery that maps where a given individual's data exists across systems, erasure workflow execution that propagates deletion requests to each system in the correct order respecting referential dependencies, and the compliance evidence generation that documents the completed erasure for regulatory audit purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Build data estate discovery mapping where individual PII exists across operational systems, warehouses, and data lakes
  • Implement erasure workflow orchestration propagating deletion through referential dependency order
  • Develop compliance evidence generation documenting completed erasure actions for regulatory audit
  • Handle ML training data erasure without breaking model retraining pipelines or invalidating existing artifacts
  • Build backup and archival erasure scheduling ensuring personal data is removed from retention copies
  • Create erasure SLA tracking ensuring all requests complete within the 30-day regulatory deadline

Requirements

  • 6+ years in data engineering or platform engineering with GDPR compliance, data governance, or privacy engineering experience
  • Deep understanding of GDPR Article 17 requirements, data residency mapping, and PII classification
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with multi-system data orchestration and audit trail generation
  • Experience handling ML training data erasure and its implications for model lineage
  • Track record building compliance automation systems that meet regulatory audit standards

Benefits

  • Fully remote across EU time zones
  • 30 days PTO plus local holidays
  • Private health insurance
  • €3,000 annual professional development budget
  • Equity participation
