AI Green Building Energy Optimization Developer

About the role

We're building the next generation of sustainability intelligence tools for commercial real estate. Zelux Studio works with property managers, REIT analysts, and green certification bodies to reduce building energy consumption using ML-driven optimization. The stack is real, the data is sensor-level, and the impact is measurable in kilowatt-hours. In this role, you'll build regression and time-series models that predict energy demand across HVAC, lighting, and electrical systems, then optimize schedules and setpoints to minimize consumption without compromising occupant comfort. You'll work with IoT sensor feeds, utility billing data, and BMS (building management system) integrations. Your models will be deployed in buildings across the UK, Netherlands, and Singapore, with results validated monthly against baseline consumption. If you care about climate impact and enjoy working at the intersection of physical systems and ML, this is a well-scoped, high-feedback-loop role.

Responsibilities

  • Build regression and time-series models for building energy demand prediction
  • Develop optimization algorithms for HVAC and lighting schedule adjustment
  • Own data pipelines from IoT sensors and building management systems
  • Validate model outputs against utility billing baselines
  • Collaborate with sustainability consultants to define optimization constraints

Requirements

  • 3+ years ML engineering or data science experience
  • Experience with time-series modeling and sensor data
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Familiarity with building systems or energy domain is a plus
  • Ability to explain model outputs to non-technical facility managers
