AI Handwritten Form Digitization Engineer

Cora Bianchi

Freelance · Job · Paris

About the role

Insurance claims, delivery notes and patient intake forms still arrive handwritten, scanned at odd angles, sometimes photographed on a kitchen table. Holtix Solutions automates document processing for operations teams, and handwritten forms are where our current pipeline falls over. We're looking for a freelance engineer to build a dedicated handwriting recognition and field-mapping module. Scope is roughly four months: fine-tune a recognition model on our labeled forms, map recognized text to the right fields using layout cues, and return confidence scores our clients can route on. You'll work async with our lead engineer and join one call a week.

Responsibilities

  • Fine-tune handwriting recognition models on roughly 60,000 labeled form crops
  • Build layout-aware logic that maps text regions to structured fields
  • Deliver a Flask inference service with confidence scores per field
  • Document training recipes so our team can retrain without you

Requirements

  • Demonstrated computer vision work on OCR, HTR or document layout analysis
  • Fluent in PyTorch and the Hugging Face ecosystem
  • Portfolio or references from similar freelance or full-time projects
  • Comfortable working async with written updates

Benefits

  • Freelance, around 30 hours a week for four months
  • Fully remote, any time zone with 2 hours CET overlap
  • Monthly invoicing in EUR or USD
  • Potential follow-on projects
