About the role

Ontix Intelligence is expanding its vision inspection capabilities beyond visible-spectrum cameras into hyperspectral imaging for food safety and pharmaceutical inspection. Hyperspectral data gives us 200+ spectral bands per pixel — and the models needed to interpret that data are fundamentally different from standard RGB computer vision. In this role, you'll build ML models for hyperspectral image classification, develop dimensionality reduction pipelines that extract actionable features from spectral data, and work with our hardware team to calibrate the imaging systems used on production lines. You'll also validate model outputs against ground truth chemical analysis provided by client lab teams. This role sits at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and ML. Experience with spectroscopy or chemometrics is a strong plus. The team is distributed across France and the Netherlands, with standard overlap hours in CET.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build classification models for hyperspectral image data in food safety and pharma contexts
  • Develop dimensionality reduction and feature extraction pipelines for high-dimensional spectral data
  • Collaborate with hardware team on imaging system calibration
  • Validate model outputs against chemical laboratory ground truth
  • Document model assumptions and spectral band selection rationale

Requirements

  • 3+ years ML engineering experience with computer vision focus
  • Experience with high-dimensional data and dimensionality reduction techniques
  • Proficiency in Python and TensorFlow
  • Background in spectroscopy, chemometrics, or analytical chemistry is a significant plus
  • Strong mathematical intuition for signal processing

Benefits

  • Remote with optional time in Paris or Amsterdam offices
  • Competitive salary with annual bonus
  • Access to proprietary hyperspectral datasets
  • Training and certification support
  • 30 days annual leave
