About the role

When an ML model misbehaves in production, the clock starts ticking. Customer trust erodes with every bad prediction served. Our observability platform detects model incidents — but someone needs to investigate them, determine root cause, coordinate the fix, and write the post-mortem that prevents recurrence. As a junior incident response analyst, you'll be the first responder for ML production issues: triaging alerts from the monitoring system, investigating whether the root cause is data drift, infrastructure failure, or model degradation, coordinating with ML engineers on fixes, and tracking incidents through resolution. You'll learn production ML systems by studying their failures — which is the fastest way to understand what makes them work. Every incident is a case study in ML system design, and after handling hundreds of them, you'll have an intuition for production ML that takes most engineers years to develop.

Responsibilities

  • Triage ML production alerts and classify incident severity
  • Investigate root causes — data drift, infrastructure failure, or model degradation
  • Coordinate with ML engineering teams on incident fixes and rollbacks
  • Write post-mortem reports with root cause analysis and prevention recommendations
  • Track incident patterns and identify systemic reliability improvements

Requirements

  • Python proficiency for log analysis and debugging
  • Basic understanding of ML model serving and deployment
  • SQL skills for querying production databases
  • Strong communication for incident coordination across teams
  • Interest in production systems reliability and ML operations
