AI Incident Response Automation Engineer

About the role

When a production incident happens, the first 15 minutes determine whether it's a minor blip or a customer-facing outage. Our platform automates the boring parts of incident response — log collection, initial triage, stakeholder notification, and runbook execution — so on-call engineers can focus on actually fixing the problem. As a junior engineer on the automation team, you'll build and maintain the workflow integrations that connect our platform to customer infrastructure. Think: pulling logs from CloudWatch, triggering PagerDuty escalations, posting Slack summaries, and executing pre-approved remediation scripts. It's mostly Python, Docker, and API integrations. You don't need to know everything on day one. We have a 60-day onboarding program that covers our architecture, incident response best practices, and the integrations you'll maintain. Your mentor shipped the Slack integration last quarter and will guide you through your first three integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain workflow integrations with third-party tools
  • Write Python scripts for automated log collection and initial triage
  • Test integrations against sandbox environments before deployment
  • Update integration documentation as APIs change
  • Monitor integration health and fix failures during business hours
  • Participate in weekly team retrospectives on integration reliability

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and webhook patterns
  • Familiarity with Docker for local development
  • Interest in DevOps, SRE, or incident management
  • Strong written communication for documentation
