AI Incident Severity Auto-Classifier Engineer

Chase Pham

Full-time · Job · New_York

About the role

Every incident that gets misclassified as low severity delays the page that should have gone out five minutes earlier. Our on-call engineers currently self-report severity, and it's inconsistent enough that leadership doesn't fully trust the incident metrics anymore. We're looking for someone to build an auto-classifier that scores incoming incidents consistently, using signal from logs, alert volume, and affected services.

Responsibilities

  • Build a classifier that scores incident severity from incoming signals
  • Stream incident data through Kafka for real-time classification
  • Validate classifier accuracy against historical incident outcomes
  • Partner with SRE leadership to define severity scoring rules

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with incident management or observability data
  • Experience building classification models with scikit-learn
  • Comfortable working with streaming data pipelines
  • Understanding of SRE or on-call operational workflows

Benefits

  • Fully remote position
  • Competitive salary + equity
  • Health and dental insurance
  • On-call stipend when applicable
