AI Injection Molding Defect Vision Engineer

Olivia Wang

Full-time · Job · Detroit

About the role

PyTorch, computer vision and edge deployment on factory-floor cameras are the core of what we build. You'll take defect classification models from notebook to production camera rig, tuning them against real injection molding lines where lighting and part geometry change by the hour. Fast-moving team. Big problem. We need someone who ships models that actually run reliably on a factory floor, not just in a notebook. You'll spend most of your first few months on-site with our Michigan production line getting hands-on with the hardware before shifting to remote-heavy hybrid work.

Responsibilities

  • Fine-tune defect classification models against real production line footage
  • Deploy models to edge camera rigs and monitor drift
  • Work directly with line operators to collect labeled defect data
  • Debug lighting and calibration issues affecting model accuracy

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of computer vision experience, internships count
  • Working knowledge of PyTorch and Docker
  • Willingness to spend time on the factory floor
  • Comfort with ambiguous, hands-on problem solving

Benefits

  • Hybrid schedule, 2 days on-site in Michigan
  • Health insurance from day one
  • Mentorship from senior CV engineers
  • Equipment budget for home office setup
