AI Insider Threat Behavioral Analytics Developer

Jordan Lindqvist

Full-time · Job · New_York

About the role

Most data breaches involve an insider — either a malicious employee, a compromised account, or a negligent user. Traditional DLP systems catch obvious violations: large file downloads, email forwarding to personal accounts. They miss the sophisticated insider who carefully stays under thresholds while systematically exfiltrating data over months. Our behavioral analytics platform builds individual baselines for every user — normal access patterns, working hours, data volumes, application usage — and detects deviations that suggest risk. The signal is subtle: an employee who starts accessing files in project folders they've never touched before, a manager whose login times shift to weekends, an account whose data access pattern suddenly resembles a peer who just got fired. You'll build the anomaly models that catch these patterns. The insider threat team is five engineers. You'll be the senior ML engineer who designs the behavioral modeling approach, working with security analysts who validate detections and privacy counsel who ensures the system respects employee privacy rights.

Responsibilities

  • Build individual behavioral baselines from access, application, and communication patterns
  • Design anomaly detection models sensitive to gradual baseline shifts
  • Handle the privacy-security balance in behavioral monitoring system design
  • Create risk scoring that minimizes false positives while catching real threats
  • Validate detections against confirmed insider incident case studies
  • Collaborate with privacy counsel on compliant implementation

Requirements

  • 6+ years in ML with behavioral analytics or insider threat detection experience
  • Deep understanding of user behavior modeling and anomaly detection
  • Strong Python, PyTorch, and distributed computing skills
  • Awareness of privacy regulations and ethical monitoring considerations
  • Experience in financial services, healthcare, or other high-security environments

Benefits

  • Fully remote with quarterly team meetings
  • Top-of-market compensation plus equity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision
  • $5,000 annual conference budget
  • Work on security's hardest problem
