AI Intent Migration Pipeline Developer

About the role

Enterprise clients switching to our chatbot platform bring their existing intent taxonomies — sometimes 2,000+ intents built over years on Dialogflow, Lex, or Watson. Migrating those intents to our platform manually takes months and introduces errors that break live customer conversations. We need to automate it. You'll build the migration pipeline: parsing intent definitions from competitor formats, mapping them to our taxonomy structure, detecting overlapping or conflicting intents, and generating the training data needed to bootstrap each intent on our platform. The pipeline needs to handle four source formats today, with two more coming next quarter. The platform tools team is three engineers. You'll own the migration module end-to-end, starting with the parser layer. Your senior teammate built the taxonomy mapping logic six months ago and will help you integrate your parser into the existing workflow. First ship target: 4 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Build parsers for intent definitions from competitor chatbot platforms
  • Map source intents to our taxonomy structure with conflict detection
  • Generate bootstrap training data for migrated intents
  • Test migration accuracy against manually migrated reference datasets
  • Add support for new source formats as client demand requires
  • Document migration procedures for customer success teams

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic understanding of chatbot intent structures and NLP concepts
  • Familiarity with JSON/XML parsing and data transformation
  • Comfort with SQL databases and REST APIs
  • Interest in NLP and conversational AI
